The bug number given in the trac ticket is different. It talks of a different thing. I'm on jaunty, specifically using 0.9.8.a and the issue is still not resolved .
Both a. The screen is not integrated as the rest of the interface as well as b. The Controller is not shown in full screen. Both the options have been chosen in vlc media player in Tools > Preferences > Interface using Native. I removed .vlc and tried again but no effect.
