OK, let me get this straight - if I download SAGE binaries (or source files to compile) to install locally on my linux boxes on my LAN, I can use parallel python to run a cluster? In other words, is pp included when installing SAGE locally? HTH, A. Jorge Garcia http://calcpage.tripod.com Tea

[sage-edu] SAGE live CD?

2010-02-01 Thread calcpage
I was about to download the latest SAGE live CD when I noticed that there's only one version of the ISO. Here's a few questions about the current ISO: Last time I burned the CD there was a 32bit and a 64bit version (4.1?). It looks like this one is based on SAGE 4.2, but I would like to know

Oh, that's interesting! Is it easy to make a bootable ISO in puppy linux? Also, you say you have SAGE and octave? isn't that redundant? Don't get me wrong, I have used octave for years and love it but I was under the impression that scyPy is included with SAGE and is very similar to octave,

I just saw on Planet SAGE an example using the @parallel decorator. This sounds very interesting, but is it only for SMP, ie multi core, or can it be extended to work over a cluster? It looks to me that using openMPI and mpi4Py is very complex. How "easy" is it to use parallel python over a
