Yet another year goes by and no STP for me... I've lived in Portland
for 4 years now. Tons of folks do the ride and seem to have fun so
perhaps one of these years I'll remember to sign up for it. To all the

I've put an IRD Alpina-d front derailer on my Sam Hillborne. It's a
braze-on model of the derailer bolted to a separate clamp.
As a practical matter, it works fine. However, I notice that when I
shift to the smallest ring (24) on my XD2 triple, the derailer cable
interferes with a black cylindrica
Well, the measurements are in. The spindle is in fact 107mm and
appears to be symmetrical. So, I'm guessing the issue is with the
machining of my particular XD2.
This is okay as far as I'm concerned. I have no riding problems with
the Q-factor or chainline I have with the 113mm BB.

I am using the Alpina-d as a braze-on, without the clamp. But, I am
familiar with this issue. I'll have to take a photo for your but I
have the cable sort of arcing over the side of the silver cage before
it reaches the bolt. Do you have a photo of your cable-anchor?

Just to follow up. I've decided to skip past the whole Deore brake

concept. The cable should be laying OVER that little arm on the

Agree with Ginz. Make sure your cable is routed correctly at the
anchor.
If your cable is routed correctly at the anchor and everything else is
set up correctly and it still touches that cylindrical piece of
plastic when you are in the small ring, just let it be that way. That

it's muy vintage looking, and prob solves the position issue. On my other i

Albatross are a very wide bar. The Bullmoose will be swept back
pretty far as well. I would not think a purely straight bar would be
good or comfortable for over 12 miles at a time but I cannot argue
with what you have found. :)
With that said just find a good Nitto straight bar and dirt drop st
one other thing, along the lines of Williams comment.. is seat height.
Are you leaning over to reach the bars?raising the seat could help
reduce wrist pain.
There is also the VO Milan and Jitensa flat bars to try in the upright
bar category too.
