What used to happen is that there would be a delay, sometimes quite a
long delay and then item chooser in its entirety would come up.
Now, on my system at least, item chooser will appear much sooner but not
with the full list of items

Yes, you are right. Under Mavericks, item chooser menu behaved differently.
But I think it may have something to do with the most recent upgrade to Safari.
Others have noticed it too. Please report your experiences to apple
accessibility.

Ok; I think I am not getting something here. I'm in addressbook on my
macAir and I brought up item chooser; it said 30 items; I started typing
gary and it said go left. What did I not do?
