Hello, First of all are you running a fairly new version of MacOS? For the past three years Safari has generally not started filling out the item chooser until you start typing. I find this much more effective. There are also too search command types VO and Native. The VO search is control+option+F and is case sensitive so if you are looking for Jonathan you must put in “Jonathan” and not “jonathan”. You can go to next / previous same searches with control+option+G or control+option+shift+G. There is also the standard Macintosh find that works in all applications to some level… This is command+F, with command+G and command+shift+G for redos. The Macintosh search command is case insensitive just like the Item choose, but it does have the disadvantage that the VoiceOver cursor does not always go to the search results, though typing command+J should “Jump to selection”. For super searches like to find all contacts with a specific string in them, the command is usually command+option+F. Another approach that works in Web Pages is to use QuickNav or rotor chooser.
