Hello Christina,

I'm guessing that your VoiceOver preference settings for the "Menus" tab under
the "Visuals" category of VoiceOver Utility somehow got changed, or perhaps the
preference file associated with this setting got corrupted. If you previously
used the option under VoiceOver Utility to set up portable preferences on an
external memory stick, so you can either keep a current copy of your VoiceoVer
preference settings, or transfer them to other Mac computers, you can import
these back.

Your preference setups for every application are stored in small associated
files with ".plist" extensions in their names. These files are opened every
time you launch an app, and rewritten every time you close that app. So over
time there is a small chance that one of your preference settings might get
corrupted. If you remove a preference file, a new one with all the default
values is created the next time the app is launched. But you don't want to do
this in cases where you have lots of customized preferences, because you'd have
to start from scratch!

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
