If you can get VoiceOver to read a passage, then you can use VO + Shift + C, to
copy the last thing spoken by VoiceOver to the clipboard, then paste it
wherever you would like.

I am unclear on what problems there are when you use a Mac /w/o a
monitor. For a while, with leopard, I'd get hangs. But the problems

What you are talking about is speakable items. Go to system preferences,

something else using the popup menu. I chose pressing either command key twice.

speakable objects and dictation mixed up. Of course, it's dictation and speech,
not accessibility.

effect this. Sorry I'm so late coming into this, I've been at work today and

Well, you going to dictation and speech. That's off the system preferences
window. Then, you turn the dictation on by pressing the radio button. A
dialogue will come up explaining what dictation is and a little bit about how
to use it. Then, if you want to use the default key, you just use the F

select dictation. Turn it on, then follow the dialogs. If you are using a usb

I followed the suggestion of another lister, and it works perfectly.
First, enable speakable items, obviously.
Second, re-assign the dictation key (I use f10, as was suggested, but I imagine
any valid key would work).
Third, restart your mac.
All should be working now. I don't know what will happe
