We used to have a HP 2100 series, was Mac compatible, but not much
for an interface for VO or Spoken Interface before, and even back in
the days of Outspoken and OS 9 I had lots of problems with it, but of
course that's an ancient series. Finally got rid of it because it

hey Anne,
is there a list somewhere of scanners that work directly with finereader? or
does anyone have suggestions for ones that do? I'm probably on the market for a

How would one go about researching purchasing a new scanner compatible
with Fine reader without the need for third party software?
Thanks.

Hello Tony,
VueScan should solve your problems.
A big plus with FineReader is that it isn't limited to 50 pages as Readiris is.
I don't know what its limit is, but my friend scans a whole book at a time and
FineReader copes.

Hello Krister,
FineReader costs €89 which is considerably cheaper than Readiris.

Hello Dan,
The problem with Abbyy FineReader is that it doesn't work with network
scanners. However, you can give it a file of images to OCR if your scanner
doesn't work directly with FineReader.
I compared a document recognised by Readiris, and the same document recognise

I think there's been discussions about FIne reader in the past on this list.
And some people had thought that it wasn't worth it compared to Read Iris at

this was last discussed on this list, which i think it was, o
Hello everyone,
A friend of mine has bought Abbyy FineReader so I had a chance to try it. It
does a very good job and doesn't have the restriction to 50 pages that Readiris
has.
I tested it in both English and French.
FineReader doesn't recognise my friend's scanner so he has to use VueScan t
