Dear all,
I hope this helps any redhat users out there. I eventually managed to
get lyx 1.2.1 running on redhat 7.3. I am definitely not an expert on
linux, redhat ect so if there is anything wrong or dangerous with the
following suggestions please point them out before i cause major damage

Hello,
I tried to rebuild the source RPM on Redhat 7.3 as instructed.
(rpm --rebuild lyx-1.2.1-1.src.rpm)
However the rebuild did not work the following error message was

I think this would be a great idea. It would be great in terms of updating

Hi.. I was wondering if anyone's thought of implementing a
revisions/changes tracker in LyX? So for e.g., if someone sends me a Lyx
(Latex) file, then I open (import) it in Lyx, and the changes that I
make are "tracked" so that after I make all my changes, when I view the
output, there'll be some

Hi,
I am writting a comorian dictionary (bantu language) and I note verbs or adjectives by
preceding the term by a dash (-) (ex: -renga "to take", -zuri "beautiful"). I am
trying to figure out how to keep the dash attached to the beginning of the word. The
software (lyx) automatically separate

Hmm.. I just checked the "Open" dialog of abiword and under the list of
extensions to open as, it does have RTF..
Well, something interesting - I opened the rtf

Hello, as was mentioned by someone else, you should try the source rpm.
You'll need the dev tools from redhat (should be installed) then, as
root, type 'rpm --rebuild lyx-1.2.1-1.src.rpm' and go make yourself
some tea. When you come back, assuming it finished correctly, you'll
find you rpm
I'm making a debian package for the lyx-1.2.1, when it's done, you can
build the package on your powerbook if you want (I use macosx on my mac,
and my debian box is x86).

I am on the act of installing the Debian distribuition on my i686.
Before that, however, I must know what kernel version to use: do lyx
1.1.6, 1.2.0 or 1.2.1 run well under 2.4 kernel, or there are known
problems and I should keep the 2.2.2 kernel in order to avoid problems
with lyx?
It is amazing

What you've posted are all warnings partly on things you'd probably never
need. Did rtf2latex fail in the end?

I'll try edit->reconfigure.
I realized at some point I was being stupid, I had to get it out of (SGML)
document formats and things got a lot better.
Over all this is a very nice lyx, I'm impressed with the new features.
Are tables in SGML just out of the question?

Howdy!
I read Herbert Voss' Lyx tip on how to put a background image on every
page in a text. My problem: I need the background image only on page one
of a letter (koma-script). Does anybody know how to get it only there and
not on the other pages?
