You would be surprised. I have had several articles published. Most
magazines struggle to get enough material for their articles. The
articles generally do not sell the advertizing space. The articles get
people to buy the magazines and the number of magazines printed drives
the ad revenue. My
If you want to get an article published, you are going to need to sell the
author on the article, and in turn he will need to sell the publisher on the
idea that the article will help sell the magazine. Before writing an article,
one might want to see if you can convince Dave that it has merit

Easy to meet that constraint, the stall speed is the one you need to be
concerned about. And it has to be "clean", no lift devices required. You
can have them, but they cannot be used to test the st

I got a nice email back from Paul Dye inviting me to send him something
more along the lines of how to make building easier, what doesn't work,
which mods make the most sense, and making it a more efficient
plane...that sort of thing. He likes to leave flight reports up to
people with no "dog
I know I've asked these details in prior posts, but didnt get a lot of
response. Some good answers but not all that many. I did find more reports
(usually quite old) in the archives I think it would be awesome to gather
everybody's real world experiences regarding the basic specs. I agree that t

letter to post ?thanking ?them for the article and give some updated info and
maybe a link or two.

Jeff,
Does the ADS-B weather show other weather events than just rain. In fooling
around with some of the apps for a tablet I discovered that they only show rain
and some only intense rain. no snow, icing or light rian. All of which have
visibility issues

It's worth pointing out that conventional wisdom has been that plans-built
airplanes, along with "minimally" supported kitplanes, do not earn Kitplanes
a lot of advertising revenue (if ANY at this point), so there is not a huge
incentive on their part to devote copy space to it. At the very least
If the article points people toward krnet.org in order to follow up on
their interest, then I think the article has served a major purpose.

I'm looking at this, with the intent of keeping the finished KR1 & the
wing-skin set (that being something I will need to redo the wings on my
KR2, assuming my prior plan to trade for a finished 'extra' set doesn't go
through).

I've volunteered to do a KR article for Kitplanes from a pilot/builder
standpoint, which is the logical way to get accurate info presented to
prospective builders and pilots. We'll see how that goes, but either way,
I'll write it and offer it to Kitplanes or Sport Aviation, whoever wants to
print
My KR2 has a heavy Type 4 VW with gear reduction, I made wing tanks on the
CofG line.
My KR2 is 385 kg empty and 585 kg MTW. I need a min of 70 Kg pilot to fly to
move it back into the forward Cof G range.
Full fuel and two 80kg passengers KR still in safe Cof G range.

Hi all,
I am normally a quiet sideline type person as I have not built the KR
yet but am trying to get more planning done. I am wondering if it would
be possible to give Dave Prizio the praises he deserves by attending the
gathering and writing the article but also have the experts like Larry
I just read the article. Overall I thought it was decent with a few

Larry,
Your first post started off with "Well, well, well, another magazine article
written from someone's basement." Dave Prizio, a staff writer for Kitplanes,
was at the KR Gathering and interviewed many of the pilots and the manufacturer
that's selling plans and parts. Do you have a better
There's another problem that's kind of technical. You can't certify a plane
as LSA compliant if you previously certified it with a higher stall speed
or a faster cruise speed. So get the paperwork right the first time because
it can't be changed.

Just got my Kitplanes mag today and read the KR article... author said 11
planes and about 40 "KR" guys; I thought it was spot on from an outsiders
perspective. If you guys want to whine, send a better article to the
magazine. JMHO.

I actually read the Kitplanes article and would like to ask what the glaring
errors, omissions, misstatements are, I am asking for educational reasons. I do
know the "specs" chart is hopelessly outdated and optimistic. That's a legacy
issue. Anything else though?
