Strikes me that it wouldn't be a bad idea to popup a dialog box "Run
Scheduled Txns? Yes / No" when starting Gnucash as this is something you
have no control over once you've checked the preference to on - 20/20
If I were you I'd look at installing the Flatpak version and then using a
version of gnucash from whenever your file was last updated - details at
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Flatpak

I don't think I suggested you thought otherwise but since you've quoted me
in your reply you must think that I did. I was simply replying to Gyles
comment along the lines of the following.

Instead of having 11 or 12 sx templates, why not have one that fires monthly?
iggie for me :-)
Or
you could do the search for the future txns, export them to a spreadsheet,
delete them in Gnucash, update in the spreadsheet and then re-import being
careful to ensure you don't end up with duplicate txns because you
forgot to delete the txns you exported as I once did.

I honk he’s talking about having 1 template but the transactions have
already been created 12 months in advance. I.e. he wants to update the
created tens based on an updated template after the fact.

James,
I may be mis-remembering but I seem to recall when importing txns some time
ago there was a checkbox or option to specify the file to be imported was
in Gnucash format ? Do you see this? Have you selected it ?

David,
Going from memory here, but don't the importers require the FITID to be
unique and not imported previously ? Any chance your bank is duplicating
these and Gnucash assumes the txns were already processed ?

The Online Quotes facility has been completely rewritten and the old
gnc-fq-check, gnc-fq-dump, and gnc-fq-helper programs have been replaced
with finance-quote-wrapper. The functions performed by those programs may
now be accomplished by passing commands to gnucash
n in preferences etc.
Your final reconcile window needs to have the same sign for all 3 Balance
amounts - see below example.
