I've read that the elbow can be removed and soaked in muriatic acid to dissolve the clog. Has anyone tried it? If you remove the hose leading into the elbow and measure the water flow and then measure it (or guesstimate) at the exhaust and there is a difference, it is the elbow or the nipple into

Possibly there's more vibration when the boat's in gear? That is, when you're at the dock at modest rpm, there's not enough shaking going on to spring a leak. Then when you've got it in gear at 2800 or so, you might just crack a seal or a bolt that's backed itself off a turn or two. Just an idea
