My boat was built in the Bruckmann yard in Oakville, Ont. I understand that the
hull may have been constructed in the US and trucked to Oakville for
completion. It’s a 1981 boat.

Thanks Jim.
I received the same feedback from others regarding boats built under Carroll's
leadership. It's unfortunate, because even with their design limitations, I
like the boat for the price and how I am planning on using it.
Will probably still just rely on a good survey to give me a

Is there a way to know if a particular hull was finished in Canada?

Hi,
If the hull number starts with "CCY" then it was built in the USA. Canadian
built C&C hull numbers have a different manufacturer ID like "CAA" or something
like that.

The comment about Barry Carrol is an interesting one; how does one find that

I had assumed my LF38 was built in NotL but our boat seems to be a special
build as the sail number ( 229 ) is out of sequence for the rest of them.
The HIN is ZCC. I'll double check the builders file I have.

You may recall my engine decided to revolt a couple months back when it blew
all its oil into the bilge and almost seized up. After a bit of thought and
asking a few questions, I bought a low-hour used Yanmar 3GM30 thinking it
would be an easy install. Turned out to be very difficult to locate part

One of the nice things about Martha's Vineyard though is that the buses

My '83 Landfall 38 HIN starts with ZCC.
I would think that any build issues would have become apparent long before now

You might want to paint the bilge areas under the engine now that you
have access to it.
Finding drips/leaks in the future will be easier if the bilge isn't
already stained with the prior drips/leaks.
Food for thought.

I have two boats - a 25 with HIN beginning in CCY and a 38 with HIN

The file on the 25 has customs paperwork for shipment to a dealer in NJ from

My first C&C, a 30mkI, was an NOTL-built boat and had the ZCC prefix; my
current boat, a LF38, was built in Rhode Island and has the CCY prefix. While
there seem to be exceptions, I think most of the C&C's follow this hull number
scheme.

I was just able to check and the Hull # begins with CCY. I believe after

Good thinking As it turns out, I've got most of the bilge cleaned up and, with
the exception of the area yet to be done, it's gloss white and like new.

Carefully explore the engine compartment bulkheads for the ends of screws
sticking out. "Fix" any you find.
