The ones I read about used lines attached to the trailing edge of the rudder
to turn the boat, with the spin pole essentially a vertical hinge lashed to

Not only did we need a storm jib for the rules, we *needed it*. That poor thing
got a workout! Triple-reef for the main did fine though, not storm trysail
aboard back then.

I lost all confidence in ISAF's decision making abilities long ago. The self
interest and politically driven nature of the last 10 year's of operations have
me willing to not participate in events that require membership. (I was a
member for decades prior to that.)

The orange was waived down here due to a shortage of orange sailcloth.
You may be correct that only a % had to be orange. The speaker was
not sure.
