Could this be a spooling related problem? About the only
pattern I can see,
is that it tends to happen while the job is spooling to
disk.
On a related note, I use Bacula (1.36.3) on a personal system,
on a FreeBSD
5.4 machine, backing up to disk- it only has 6 machines to
backup (three
local, and three remote) and significantly
less data, but I've *never* had
any problems with it in this regard- in-fact- it saved my butt
the other day
when my development machine died, and I had to restore-
:)

Any suggestions. I have put the director's machine name and IP address in
machine1's hosts file. The storage director does have a fully qualified
name. I even ssh'ed into machine1 and was able to ping the bacula-dir
mac
l72's host file to
make sure it knows how to get the the director and I still have this

Bacula had gone from writing to Vol51, which still shows Append, to Vol58
