Currently I have a DLT-8000 capable of 40GB/80GB and it is used with a homegrown set of crontab entries and tar commands. I will very soon be moving to bacula for all backups that amount to about 200GB for a level 0. I do not want to spend the money for a library, nor do I need a library as the daily, level 1 backups are not large.
I want a way to take the daily tapes off site so I do not want a lot of wasted space at the end of a tape. However, though the level 1's are small the level 0's are large so I do want large tapes and fast drives for the level 0's. I appreciate anyone's thoughts on a tape drive to recommend to my boss and thoughts of just keeping what I already have.
