I have puzzle for ya'all! Oh, joy, right?
This is on Mandrake Cooker 10.0, so I'm not a real rookie. All
ALSA packages are mandrake rpms. Soundcard is Turtle Beach Santa
Cruz snd-cs46xx (I know, not the best, but hey it has worked well so
far). fingers crossed!
Everything has been working perfe

Rears do not fire, no cross-talk on other channels

Well, I figured out the problem with what the "Digital Output" is for.
My speakers are digital speakers, which require a digital signal from
the card. So, now to find an analog-to-digital convertor/adaptor and

Hi there,
I've been running Alsa for quite some time now but only used the Oss-
Emulation with xmms, xine, etc. So far everything works fine (even
AC3-streams) but lately I've been wanting to try out some Apps running
with Jack, which didn't produce any sound.
So I tried xmms with Alsa-output and

I don't run Ogle, but I guess, that is probably not good
to have in there if you want to try Ogle's
Ogle is failing when it reaches my sound driver. I get the first
Interpol type warning screen, and then it stops and exits.
I am running 2.4.22 pretty standard kernel from a pretty standard
Slack 9.1 install. My sound works well, quite well, as a matter
of fact, compared to my old system on RedH

Is there ANY way, in Red Hat 9, to simply enable Digital Output or do I
need to download and install all this stuff? I installed the ALSA stuff
within the CCRMA package and if I boot with that kernel, X Windows
doesn't run. I installed the newest gcc I could find and the latest
NVIDIA drivers
Hello everybody,
I have a Gigabyte motherboard with AC97 sound on it. I had it working
under kernel 2.4.20-18.1.capssmp and the corresponding alsa modules
(0.9.4-2.cvs) using the module snd-intel8x0.o.
After upgrading to 2.4.20-24.1.capssmp.rh90.ccrma (ALSA 1.0.0-1.rc2)
the sound stopped working.
Ever since installing Mandrake 9.1, I've lost use of my soundcard. The
sound PCI board is a Creative Labs SB Live! using the EMU10k1 driver.
I'm trying to troubleshoot something that I don't know much about here.
This is as far as I've got:
I don't know much about the difference between the ALS

2.6.x comes with its own ALSA driver, so if everything works I guess
there's no need to compile
Hi people,
I have alsa 1.0.0rc2, my problem is,that when I play video or audio
file with mplayer, at first mplayer writes, that he can't open audio
device /dev/dsp and then after 1 min it starts to play. The same is
with timidity, it starts playing after aproximately 40-60 sec.
This is what mpla

If you can't find the alsasound init-script try this little bash magic
which I found on some website and works quite well for me:

You have to load a soundfont first (with sfxload).

You can also try -mm series of kernels. 2.6.1-m
Hi!
Perhaps you have the alsasound-Script. At my place it is located in
/etc/rc.d. You can use something like:
alsasound stop - alsasound start - alsasound restart. If you don't have it I
can mail you mine. I hope it will work though. But it is designed to on all
newer systems I think.
