My P4P800 board (ICH5 chipset) doesn't produce any sound with the intel8x0
driver either. I unmuted all the channels. I asked here and on linux-kernel
but there were no answers.

I finally gave up and went back to the OSS drivers. The i810_audio driver
works fine.
