Hi,
I recently installed a new motherboard, the GA-8IRXP from Gigabyte,
which has an on-board CT5880 for sound. I built the ens1371 alsa
module, it installs OK, and I get sound --- but apparently only out of
the left channel. This symptom occurs for all sound. Does anybody have

Greg,
How do I change the sampling rate? I tried the line
options snd-intel8x0 snd_id=CARD_0 snd_index=0 snd_ac97_clock=48000
but it didn't make any difference, it still says 44100. BTW, the ALSA
docs for the intel8x0 say

I'm using gentoo linux ver 1.4rc1 on a G4 cube with gcc3.2 and
alsa-0.9.0rc3 and am having some major problems getting alsa to work
properly.
When trying to use the native alsa interface, most programs either give
out just static or if they manage to play something coherent, the output
is noisy
First a big thank you to all of the folks that responded to my
cry for help :)
I have bookmarked all the great sites you folks have
suggested looking at and there is certainly some great
information there.
To solve the problem I went back to the basics and set

It sure sounds like you've done all the right stuff. Sorry you're still
having problems. If the SB128 is working that well, then it really does
point to either the driver (are other1010 users having trouble?) your
specific card (not likely) or some level of configuration other than IR

Chicken & Egg...
I probably won't buy one unless the driver is ready, so I can't help.
If I go further in the purchase direction I'll attempt to contact CreamWare
and see what they say.
Thanks Takashi
With best regards,

Do we know if there is any problem supporting it? Will CreamWare release the
technical info that you guys need to write a driver?
This is all just curiosity, but I'd hate to buy something for my Windows
world that I could use here later.

Are u sure u compiled the driver with this option.
--with-cards=ac97
with cards is the chipset used and not the name of the card.
IE I have a Terratec 24/96 card that shows in lspci, but the chipset is ICE1712
also shown in lspci. Then I used --with-cards=ICE1712
