Try turning that off. there also may be a kde service polling your cdrom drive to see if you've put a disk in and automatically open it for you. Kill that stupid thing. It might also matter *which* IRQ your device gets, as discussed at http://www.boosthardware.com/LAU/guide/ (click on "Low Latency mini-howto").
