Re: What does command option H do in Apple Mail
Meh, That had nothing to do with your vo+back slash, that I can definitely assure you. I, too have had issues with vo+backslash not working with mail, and regardless people telling me left and right it consistently works, I have news for you and them, on my end, it definitely doesn't work reliably, case closed, believe it, or call me a liar, one. cd burning software.
Hello list. I am looking for an application that will allow me to copy an audio cd to multiple drives at the same time. I have burn, but this app can not do what I am asking. I know that toast titanium is the best application for such tasks for the mac but I don't think that is accessible with voice over. Any help is very much needed and appreciated. Re: What does command option H do in Apple Mail
Hi, The difference between hide and minimize is, hiding an application that is in the foreground removes it from the screen but, also moves focus to the open application behind it. If you minimize, the app is removed from the screen but, focus is still in that app, and its still in the foreground. Voice Dream: Gestures with two fingers
Hi Voice Dream users, what a great app I think. Even iBooks could learn from it. ;-) What doesn't work for me are the gestures with two fingers. If I got it right I could swipe with two fingers to the right or left two jump to the beginning or end of a sentence. But when I perform this gestures nothing hapens. Same is when I tap with to fingers on the screen. Or is this just a gesture for users with vision? Re: Voice Dream: Gestures with two fingers
Yeh, I think they have a bit of work to do yet. For example, I wanted to try the define a word feature. So, I rotated to words and then Flicked to a word. Then I did a doubletap and hold and the menu popped up. Only, it defined the word at the beginning of the sentence and nothing I did could make it go for any word other than a word at the beginning of a defined block of text. It didn't make the reading curser follow the voiceover curser. Re: We won!!!!! Voc Rehab is buying my student a MacBook Air
Hi Eric, Well, the short answer is that we went over his head. We filed a complaint with the state, which resulted in a conference call with the boss of the people who made the decision. the guy was kind of frustrating. Initially he accused me of letting my personal biases interfere with making a decision that was in the student's best interest, he still insisted that Windows is the better choice b/c that is what 90% of employers want, and when I said that if she ever really had to, she could install Windows on her Mac, he said that no blind person should ever try to run an installation of Windows on a Mac, because it's too difficult. I just ignored the latter, but I thought it said a lot about how little he knows about blind Mac users. He was also very hung up on the fact that MS Office isn't accessible on the Mac, and I had to spend some time talking about why that wasn't a problem. I think mostly the conference call was a show for the benefit of his underlings, so that it didn't look like he just overruled them. So we went through all the points, that we do have Macs on campus, that I can provide training and support, that a Mac is an appropriate choice for her career, how her exposure to a Mac was pretty much even with her exposure to Windows and JAWS, etc. Toward the end of the call he pontificated about how using an iPad or iPhone isn't the same as using an actual Mac--which of course she already understood--and then said that given that having a Mac would not present employment issues, and given that her experiences with both systems are basically equivalent, they could go ahead and by the Mac. So that's how it happened. I'm thrilled for the student, and hoping that the next time someone in the state requests a Mac, just maybe, we have made a small in-road. Sometimes i think that having people believing in blind persons and the mac is frustrating, but there are light at the end. At least if you live in denmark, part of that is the lower price, but it is simply also that the system is more stable and if it goes down you can install it again your self. best sandi written from her Mac mini II who have not failed her yet! :) On 4/28/13, Donna Goodin wrote: > Hi Eric, > > Well, the short answer is that we went over his head. > > We filed a complaint with the state, which resulted in a conference call > with the boss of the people who made the decision. the guy was kind of > frustrating. Re: Voice Dream: Gestures with two fingers
I use VoiceDream and I agree that it is a great app. To use the two-finger swipe right or left to go to previous or next sentence, you have to turn VO off. That's easy enough, just triple click home and then the gestures are usable. Of course, with VO on, you can rewind or fastforward 30 seconds, or pause with a two finger double tap. I switch between VO on and off for the different uses. - Original Message - From: "Jürgen Fleger" To: "Visionaries Mac Visionaries" Sent: Sunday, April 28, 2013 2:43 PM Subject: Voice Dream: Gestures with two fingers Hi Voice Dream users, what a great app I think. Re: We won!!!!! Voc Rehab is buying my student a MacBook Air
Hi Sandi, I made that argument, and many others. Rehab agencies here in the U.S. are often very reticent to purchase Macs. This comes from many factors that I won't go into here, but it's really very hard to get them to look at anything that isn't a Freedom Scientific--and thus Windows--product. Re: We won!!!!! Voc Rehab is buying my student a MacBook Air
Please feel fortunate, we have almost no agencies here in /canada and the only way you can obtain anything is by attending school/post secondary institutions at which yo have to do extremely well, or be employed. If you want a mac, you buy it yourself around here, which is what I did. On 2013-04-28, at 1:42 PM, Donna Goodin wrote: > Hi Sandi, > > I made that argument, and many others. Re: We won!!!!! Voc Rehab is buying my student a MacBook Air
hmmm. that much of a fight does indicate that they are going to be resistant to such requests in the future. The other problem is that the person making the spurious arguments about the mac doesn't want to be educated. they are still of the opinion that they know best what the blind client needs, not what they actually need. I get this a lot from my VR agency as well. They have already labeled me as uncooperative, difficult to deal with and some other things. It takes my having to threaten getting a lawyer before they listen. Oh well, if they don't want ulcers over it, they just have to grant my requests. -eric On Apr 28, 2013, at 1:03 PM, Donna Goodin wrote: > Hi Eric, > > Well, the short answer is that we went over his head. > > We filed a complaint with the state, which resulted in a conference call with > the boss of the people who made the decision. the guy was kind of > frustrating. How to forward delete on mac and other functions
Hello all: I came across this handy article and thought it might be of use to some. It taught me a thing or 2 I didn't know about the backspace (or delete key) as we call it on the Mac. You can make it forward delete, turn your power key into a physical forward delete key (as on Windows), and delete words and lines of text,Here's the article with more info and instructions on how to do all these tasks: http://osxdaily.com/2013/04/26/delete-key-mac-forward-del/ Hope that's helpful, Rachel -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. swiping up and down in radium to change volume
Hey guys, ON the iPhone, I can do things like swipe up and down by touching the trackpad and then holding, then performing an option. In Radium, you can theoretically swipe up or down to adjust playback volume. This will be useful because I can set radium's volume lower than that of Voiceover. Do I need to set a trackpad commander or some kind of commander to perform this action? Also, Radium should allow to option click on a button to pause and disconnect from the source immediately. hi Eric. You only been told you are difficult? oh my god, i know that the list of things i been told i am from the handicap organization in denmark is longer than that. And yes i have found out too that saying that you will call your lawyer does actually help quite a bit. For me it dont help matters that i have gone from blind too nearly fully sighted. Sometimes it is like that the persons who are actually there too help you, are not educated enough about the matter, i ended up having too buy all my tech, plus books for the nursing education, how i did that well lets leave that one alone. I know that my ideal setup will be a mac mini with an vmware windows vista or 7 32 bit thing for the scanner. So far that have costed me about $18000 and if i knew how hard it would be i had most likely not done it too start with. But it will be worth it in the end. Donna congrats on you and your clients thrillingness! that you got your will in the end is a good thing should there be a repetition later.
