Re: insert plus f11 key with vm fusion

2010-08-16 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Hi.

You need (if you have a mac book pro) to assign the insert key to the accent
key just above the tab as special caps lock using sharp keys if that is what
you are using. Then the insert key followed by F11 together should work.

Kawal.

Re: Skype users vo suggestions

2010-08-16 Thread Nicolai Svendsen
Hi,

Make the images that appear actually have text other than in the images that
refer to the same thing. One example would be the SMS sending. The rate
appears, but you can't see it because it is within an image that obviously
VoiceOVer is unable to read.

I tried getting in touch with Skype about all this myself a few months ago, but
never heard back. Glad you're succeeding...hopefully we'll find out in the next
release supposed to be out later this year. That looks more and more like the
really, really late end of 2010.

I hope that is one of the surprises they've promised Mac users where VoiceOVer
is concerned, though it currently still works great. I'm a bit worried, though,
when it comes to VoiceOVer and Skype. It seems like a lot of people want a new
interface. I technically agree with them when I think of the actually design on
the Mac, but hopefully if that change is approved Voiceover will still be taken
into consideration to an extent so it doesn't look too weird and awkward.

Re: boot camp

2010-08-16 Thread Nicolai Svendsen
Hi Chad,

You cannot install a Bootcamp partition via VMWare FUsion. While you can
actually convert a Bootcamp partition into a virtual machine, it is not
possible to reverse the process. You cannot convert a virtual machine to a
Bootcamp partition.

I know how to create an unattended installation, and I would suppose this would
work as well. I believe Blake once informed us a bit about this, so looking in
the archives might be a good idea if you're really curious. Hopefully, though,
he is still around to help in case it is seriously buried, or perhaps someone
else can step up? I imagine, though, that it wouldn't be that much different
than creating the installation, then simply following the steps. I don't know.

Thanks in advance, though, to anyone who can answer the rest of this. I'd like
to know myself, but from what I remember Blake telling me, it's entirely
possible to do.

These particular ones are in system preferences, expose and spaces, under the

changing mp3 bitrates in Max

2010-08-16 Thread Shen
Hello,
Awhile back, people have said the Max program is a good program for converting
various audio types. I tried it a few days ago and discovered I cannot change
the bitrate when setting a custom setting for mp3. I see the various bitrates,
but they are just numbers. I can't click on them. The only thing that I can
change is a percentage slider, which does not make sense in relation to
bitrates. I tried clicking on the numbers with the trackpad, and nothing
happened.
If anyone knows how to change mp3 bitrates, please share your secret with me.
Thanks.

Re: changing mp3 bitrates in Max

2010-08-16 Thread erik burggraaf
Howdy, The understanding of bitrates in max requires a little bit of
imagination. Visualize a dial with a big arrow painted on it. Around the dial
are numbers. The numbers don't move, only the dial and the arrow move. When
the arrow is pointing at one of the numbers, that's where the setting is.

to convert this to something that makes sense, you need to either try a few
samples to see how they come out, or talk to some one who already did... Like
me.

Now then. I can tell you that 46.2 equals 96 kbps, 53.8 equals 112 kbps, 61.5
equals 128 kbps, 69.2 equals 160 kbps... I think that 76.9 equals 192, 84.6
equals 224, 92.3 equals 256, and 100 definitely equals 320. I had my encoder
set for audiobooks, so I'm sketchy on the 192 and 224 settings, but it makes
sense.

Hope this helps,

Erik Burggraaf

Problem with 3 finger flick on trackpad

2010-08-16 Thread Daniel Rowe
Hi all,
has anyone else noticed that in some cases the 3 finger flick doesn't work?
I've found this particularly in tables and in the playlist browser in iTunes.
Is this a bug in VO or is there a reason why these elements can't be scrolled?
I'm using the magic trackpad but this happens on MacBooks as well.

Re: Skype users vo suggestions

2010-08-16 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Hi.

I'd like the chat feature on Skype to be designed so that it's like windows
messenger so that you have the same conversation in one message rather than
interacting with the html all the time. I hope this makes sense.

Also, the answer button when a call comes in could be made easier to locate.

Kawal.

Re: Skype users vo suggestions

2010-08-16 Thread Yuma Antoine Decaux
Hi,

I currently use keyboard maestro to automate the interacting part and to get to
the last dialogue but i agree, skype can do better with a later version for
which the user doesn't need to always go in and out of the convo.

I used to like the ctrl 1 2 3 in JAWS for that matter, and i adopted the same
shorcutss for my skype macros

Best regards

Why not just turn off cursor tracking? That way, you can leave the VoiceOVer

simply go to the last visible item in the HTML area without having to

Re: Navigating to the top or bottom of a table.

2010-08-16 Thread Geoff Waaler
Thanks to Anne, Kevin and Carolyn who sent me a private note, but I remain
stuck in the middle of my in-box with no quick way out.

From the finder I point to mail.app and press command+o -- among other
things vo says that I'm in my in-box and row 582 of 3,832 has keyboard
focus. The up and down arrow keys appear to traverse my folders so I tab
into the in-box. VO reads the header of an old message and again announces
my position in the table. I then press VO+end and move up four messages to
586/3832. If I attempt to interact, VO says "interact with text" and VO+end
has no discernible affect on the focus. I tried all this before posting,
but should have said so explicitly.

The one thing I had not tried was kevin's suggestion. When I press
VO+shift+J followed by VO+downArrow it moves me up four more to 590, which
is still a long long way from the bottom.

Besides cleaning up the clutter in my in-box and defining a few filters,
any/all suggestions would be appreciated since I am stuck on what seems like
it should be a simple problem.

Use the VO jump command to jump to the bottom or top of your message view.

Press VO-Shift-J to start the jump. Then, press VO-down arrow.

2010-08-16 Thread Kevin Shaw
Geoff,

You need to interact with the message table with VO-Shift-down arrow. You
should be able to navigate with VO-right/left arrow and hear the column fields.

Start the jump with VO-shift-J. VO-down arrow will take you to the bottom of
the list.

This works on a Macbook Pro's keyboard without using the home or end keys.

2010-08-16 Thread Carolyn
GEoff:
Welcome to Mac woes. I would try command w to close window, This should put
you back into your messages. If not, command Q to get out of mail totally.
Open mail. Interact with your mailbox list, and check out what mailboxes you
have. Now, arrow back upto inbox. Stopp interacting with mailboxes and
vo/right arrow twice. You should hear "messages." Interact with messages.
Now you can right arrow through status, date, etc. If you go to subject,
You'll be a ble to use these commands (ctl/option/fnc/arrows) to move through
your list. Additionally, you may want to take a look at your view menu, where
you can set things like order and what gets presented with the messages. If
you get into a message, and decide you don't want it, you can delete, either
from within the message, or just from the subject line.
Finally, since your previous messages are all gone through on your pc, you may
want to set your view menu to sort by date received, and then select to the top
and delete a big block.
(I think the command for select to the top would be ctl/option/fnc/left arrow.
But please verify that command as it's been a while for me.)
HTH a little.

Re: Skype users vo suggestions

2010-08-16 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
How do you turn off the voice over tracking, and can you do this in different
applications so you can turn off tracking for one applications and it's turned
on for something else?

2010-08-16 Thread Maxwell Ivey Jr.
hello; how is your email displayed? I'm asking because I can't get
the go to top or go to end working either. I like to keep my active
emails in my inbox, so sometimes i have over a hundred messages in
there. so, what i do sometimes is when in the list press a letter
like a for the top or w for the bottom. this isn't perfect, but often
it will get me close enough to where i want to be to save a lot of
time. another thing i like to do before checking mail is to note the
name of the sender for the last message in the list so i can enter
those characters to get back there. Of course, sometimes i have more
than one email from the same contact and have to do it several times.
Hope this helps until you can work out the preferred way to do it.

From the finder I point to mail.app and press command+o -- among
other things vo says that I'm in my in-box and row 582 of 3,832 has
keyboard focus. The up and down arrow keys appear to traverse my
folders so I tab into the in-box. VO reads the header of an old
message and again announces my position in the table. I then press
VO+end and move up four messages to 586/3832. If I attempt to
interact, VO says "interact with text" and VO+end has no discernible
affect on the focus. I tried all this before posting, but should
have said so
The one thing I had not tried was kevin's suggestion. When I press
VO+shift+J followed by VO+downArrow it moves me up four more to 590,
which is still a long long way from the bottom.

Besides cleaning up the clutter in my in-box and defining a few
filters, any/all suggestions would be appreciated since I am stuck
on what seems like it should be a simple problem.

Use the VO jump command to jump to the bottom or top of your
message view.

Press VO-Shift-J to start the jump. Then, press VO-down arrow.

Re: Skype users vo suggestions

2010-08-16 Thread Nicolai Svendsen
Hello Kawal,

The way tracking works is simply that it leaves all the cursors where they are.
If it is turned off, the cursor settings in the VoiceOver Utility are simply
ignored, and a good example of this is Skype.

It will only work on an application basis, however, which means that you have
to turn it on and off as you need to...but it's not that big of a deal to do
that after you get used to it. You can turn it on and off with VO-Shift-F3.

pop up windows

2010-08-16 Thread Yuma Antoine Decaux
Hi list,

I have had this annoyance for a while and sent the following message to
accessibility at apple for their next iteration:

There are quite a few instances when leaving vo on a navigation item calls "x
application" has a new window.

This in general means that a pop up has appeared with extra information.

For instance, there is a way to instantly bring up the definition of a
highlighted word in text edit, mail and others meaning its system wide.

But these pop ups are not visible to VO users.

I wanted to express my wish for these pop ups to be accessible.

Thanks, and best regards

Did anyone find a solution for this? There are most probably ways to do it
through applescript as pop ups are elements which reside in the standard suite,
but work and activities kind of forbid me to dive into these solutions which
are probably much better handled by reporting it to the access team chez apple.

Cheers

Navigating the Mail Messages Table [was Re: Navigating to the top or bottom of a table.]

2010-08-16 Thread Esther

Hi Geoff,

First of all, Mary's description of VO Shift Home and and VO Shift End
should work for you as Fn VO Shift Left Arrow and Fn VO Shift Right
Arrow, where "Home" is Fn Left Arrow and "End" is Fn Right Arrow" on a
laptop keyboard. Without the Shift key you move to the top or bottom
of the visible area (e.g., the number of messages that are currently
displayed in your messages table, which is a lot fewer than all the
contents of your Inbox). When the Shift key is added you move to the
top or bottom of the area, scrolling if necessary.

However, for the Mail Messages table there's a lot simpler way to move
to the beginning or end of the table: simply hold down Option+Up Arrow
or Down Arrow keys and wait a bit. This keyboard shortcut works
independent of VoiceOver, and is very fast. Further, if you want to
move to the previous or next message in the thread, pressing the
Option key and tapping either the Up Arrow or Down Arrow key will move
you through to previous or next message in the thread -- whether or
not you have your messages set up to displayed in threaded view.
Again, this works independently of VoiceOver. The order you get also
depends on whether your messages are sorted in ascending or descending
order. To change this order, after interacting (VO Shift Down Arrow)
with the messages table, navigate (VO Right Arrow) to the "Date
Received" column and sort (VO Shift Backslash, where the "Backslash"
key is located at the right edge of the keyboard, above the "Return"
key and below the "Delete" key on an English input keyboard). Note
that on non-English language keyboards these keys are used for
accents, and you need to press VO H twice to bring up the Commands
menu to choose the option to "Sort Column", and that this option will
only be present if you have first interacted with the table, since
available commands are context sensitive. Each sort (VO Shift
Backslash) switches the entries being sorted between ascending and
descending order.

For reference, here's how the Appendix in the VoiceOver Getting
Started Guide defines these keys under the Navigation section, with
the function listed first, and the keyboard shortcut listed second,
first listing the commands for the "visible" area:

"Move to the top of the visible area, such as the window or text area,
where the VoiceOver cursor is located

VO-Home
On a portable computer, press Fn-VO-Left Arrow"

"Move to the bottom of the visible area, such as the window or text
area, where the VoiceOver cursor is located

VO-End
On a portable computer, press Fn-VO-Right Arrow"

And the counterpart commands with scrolling:

"Move to the top of the area, such as the window or text area, where
the VoiceOver cursor is located, scrolling if necessary

VO-Shift-Home
On a portable computer, press Fn-VO-Shift-Left Arrow"

"Move to the bottom of the area, such as the window or text area,
where the VoiceOver cursor is located, scrolling if necessary

VO-Shift-End
On a portable computer, press Fn-VO-Shift Right Arrow"

At least part of the confusion of what results you get depends on
whether you interacted with the table first. The Mac-wide commands
(that are not specific to VoiceOver) work even if you don't first
interact with the table.

Also, this is minor preference, but I find it easier to navigate to
Finder, use Command-Shift-A to go to an application, press the first
few letters in the name, and then open the application with Command-
Down arrow. Commonly used applications are found in the Dock, and most
people eventually customize what they want placed there, so for
applications and utilities that you frequently use, it can be faster
to navigate to the Dock to open your apps. Again, this can either be
done with VoiceOver specific commands like VO-D, or through the Mac
keyboard shortcuts, like Control-F3, just as navigating to the menu
bar can be done with VO-M or with the Mac shortcut of Control-F2. And
navigation through the items can be either through typing the first
letters of the name of the app or menu, or by using the (right and
left) arrow keys, or both. In fact, you can customize and change the
order in which apps appear in the dock by pressing Option-Left arrow
or Right arrow on any given app to move its position to the left or
right. And you can also launch these apps by pressing the space bar.
Of course, if you don't know where to find an app, you can simply
press Command-Space to launch Spotlight and type in the name or first
few letters of the name of the app, and then launch it that way when
your press return. That will find apps that you downloaded, for
example, but didn't move to the Apps folder. All of these latter
keystrokes and combinations are Mac-wide, and not VoiceOver specific,
BTW.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

More comments on navigating the Mail Messages table [was Re: Navigating to the top or bottom of a table.]

2010-08-16 Thread Esther

Hi Max and Geoff,

Max's note about his searching method reminds me: uou can also use the
search field in Mail to filter the messages that are displayed. For
example, if I only want to view the messages from Geoff in my Inbox, I
can use Command-Option-F to move to the search text box for mail, and
type in "Geoff". Then if I tab back to the messages table and
interact, I'll only be viewing messages from (in this case) "Geoff
Waaler" and "Geoff Stevens" (guess I should have made my search more
exclusive ). So I could do what Max says he does, and move to
the last post from Geoff. In this mode I'm only seeing posts from
Geoff, though. I can still press the Option key along with holding
down either the Up Arrow or Down Arrow key to move to the first or
last post from Geoff in my Inbox, but I can't view posts from anyone
else. I'd have to move back to the search box (Command-Option-F) and
delete the previous search terms, then tab back to the messages table,
and interact. My focus will still be at the last (or first) message
from Geoff, so I can arrow up or down from there.

However, Max should just be able to hold down the Option key and
either Down Arrow or Up Arrow to move through to the bottom or top of
his Inbox. I did want to point out that you can use the search
feature, too, to filter your Mailbox displayed contents. You can
actually refine these searches to modify whether the search runs on
your current mailbox (the default), or all mailboxes, and whether it
searches the entire message, the "from" field, "to" field, or
"subject" field, etc., but you would have to tab and then VO-Right
arrow from the search box. Detailed searches should probably be left
to a later date for exploration. For now, you can use Command-Option-
F and type in part or all of a sender's name, then tab back to the
messages table. However, it is important to clear the search box
afterwards if you want to display all your messages.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

From the finder I point to mail.app and press command+o -- among

keyboard focus. The up and down arrow keys appear to traverse my

message and again announces my position in the table. I then press
VO+end and move up four messages to 586/3832. If I attempt to
interact, VO says "interact with text" and VO+end has no
discernible affect on the focus. I tried all this before posting,
but should have said so
The one thing I had not tried was kevin's suggestion. When I press
VO+shift+J followed by VO+downArrow it moves me up four more to

Besides cleaning up the clutter in my in-box and defining a few

on what seems like it should be a simple problem.

Use the VO jump command to jump to the bottom or top of your
message view.

Press VO-Shift-J to start the jump. Then, press VO-down arrow.

Auto tab interaction and mac wide shortcuts -> was Navigating the Mail Messages Table [was Re: Navigating to the top or bottom of a table.]

2010-08-16 Thread Geoff Waaler
Thanks so much Carolyn Esther and everyone else who posted suggestions!
Your posts enabled me to solve my problem and finally understand what Kevin
was trying to communicate, though I still have a couple questions.

Under voiceOver Utilities -> navigation -> the "automatically interact
when using tab key" option is checked (default setting). Still, when I
started Mail I was pointing to the table of mailboxes. Without interacting,
my arrow keys appeared to traverse my folders. I then pressed tabbed and
would always highlight the message that was last in focus during my previous
mail session. I was unable to move more than a few messages up or down.
When I highlight my in-box and use either VO+rightArrow twice or VO+J to get
to my list of messages, both the option+arrow and VO+shift+home/end keys
work exactly as everyone described. I'm curious why the tab key interacts
with the elements in both the VoiceOver utility and system preferences
dialogs? Is there a VO configuration active for the Mail app that I've not
found? I know I have a lot to learn, but is this app following a different
convention?

My second question is whether there is any documentation of the mac wide
keyboard short cuts such as control-F2 and option-DownArrow? Before posting
I looked through every option in the menu as well as Mail help and couldn't
find a solution.

Thanks again to everyone. Time to start playing with mail on the Mac!!Geoff

Subject: Navigating the Mail Messages Table [was Re: Navigating to the top
or bottom of a table.]

Without the Shift key you move to the top or bottom of
the visible area (e.g., the number of messages that are currently
displayed in your messages table, which is a lot fewer than all the
contents of your Inbox). When the Shift key is added you move to the top
or bottom of the area, scrolling if necessary.

However, for the Mail Messages table there's a lot simpler way to move to
the beginning or end of the table: simply hold down Option+Up Arrow or
Down Arrow keys and wait a bit. This keyboard shortcut works independent
of VoiceOver, and is very fast. Further, if you want to move to the
previous or next message in the thread, pressing the Option key and
tapping either the Up Arrow or Down Arrow key will move you through to
previous or next message in the thread -- whether or not you have your
messages set up to displayed in threaded view. Again, this works
independently of VoiceOver. The order you get also depends on whether
your messages are sorted in ascending or descending order. To change
this order, after interacting (VO Shift Down Arrow) with the messages
table, navigate (VO Right Arrow) to the "Date Received" column and sort
(VO Shift Backslash, where the "Backslash" key is located at the right
edge of the keyboard, above the "Return" key and below the "Delete" key
on an English input keyboard). Note that on non-English language
keyboards these keys are used for accents, and you need to press VO H
twice to bring up the Commands menu to choose the option to "Sort
Column", and that this option will only be present if you have first
interacted with the table, since available commands are context
sensitive. Each sort (VO Shift Backslash) switches the entries being
sorted between ascending and descending order.

For reference, here's how the Appendix in the VoiceOver Getting Started
Guide defines these keys under the Navigation section, with the function
listed first, and the keyboard shortcut listed second, first listing the
commands for the "visible" area:

"Move to the top of the visible area, such as the window or text area,
where the VoiceOver cursor is located

VO-Home
On a portable computer, press Fn-VO-Left Arrow"

"Move to the bottom of the visible area, such as the window or text area,
where the VoiceOver cursor is located

VO-End
On a portable computer, press Fn-VO-Right Arrow"

And the counterpart commands with scrolling:

"Move to the top of the area, such as the window or text area, where the
VoiceOver cursor is located, scrolling if necessary

VO-Shift-Home
On a portable computer, press Fn-VO-Shift-Left Arrow"

"Move to the bottom of the area, such as the window or text area, where
the VoiceOver cursor is located, scrolling if necessary

VO-Shift-End
On a portable computer, press Fn-VO-Shift Right Arrow"

At least part of the confusion of what results you get depends on whether
you interacted with the table first. The Mac-wide commands (that are not
specific to VoiceOver) work even if you don't first interact with the
table.

Also, this is minor p

Great workaround for Mac Laptops who want a Control ke ont he right side

2010-08-16 Thread Alfredo
I have found a great way to make a Laptop more user friendly to VO
users. I have had a problem of having to awkwardly maneuver my right
hand above my left hand when typing VO commands requiring Control
+Option along with any key not he left side of the Keyboard. For
example, to execute the Command, Control-Option-Shift-D, to go tot he
desktop, I would have to press the Control-Option-Shift with my left
hand, while awkwardly moving my right hand above my left hand and
pressing the "d" key to execute this command. For laptop Macs, we are
left on the short side of the stick when it comes to navigating VO,
since we only have a control key on th left hand side of the keyboard,
follow by a option and then a command key. In the middle we have the
spacebar, then tot he right of the spacebar we have another option key
follow by another command key. As you might image this keyboard
layout is crazy for VO user who frequently have to use the combination
of Option-Control to execute most VO navigation commands, since there
is no Control key not he Right side of the Keyboard. I attempted to
map the Capslock key to the Option-Control key with Spark keys but the
interface was confusing and not really intuitive, although I have to
say that it would be great as a free version of text expander. After
failing ot map the keys I remember somewhere on the internet I had
read that under Keyboard preferences there is a option to modify
keys. I decided to try this out and found that I could modify, or
otherwise map, the Caps lock, Command, Control and option keys to
either the Caps lock, command, option, control or no key. This meant
that I could map my 13" MacBook pro laptop command keys to functionto
perform a control function. Then I could map the Control key to the
Command key. This would allow me to execute VO commands that also
required a key to be presed from the left side of the keyboard with
wase. However, there was still the problem that I did not have a
command key on the right side of the Laptop since it was map as a
control key, and that I would not be able to execute a command-w, or
command-q, to close an application window or quit an application
easily without having to move my hands awkwardly on my keyboard like I
had done before I mapped the control key to my command keys. Then it
hit me that I barely, and many of u can relate, barely use the caps
lock key. I then decided to map the caps lock key to perform a
command key operation. Now I I have the command key at the bottom
left of the keyboard, tot he right of the function key, then the
option key to its right, then the control ke to its right. I have the
spacebar in the middle, follow by a option key to its right and a
control key to its right. I then have the caps lock key functioning
as a command key. this is also great for navigating on the web since
I can easily press my Left hand side command-option-control in
conjunctions with the right side of the keyboard to navigate webistes
easily. I am also able to use my right hand option-control, and press
the caps lock key, which acts as a command key, with my pinky finger
and press the keys on the left side of the keyboard with my other
fingers. Similar to using the jaws key byt this requires more
keystroke pressing. I still ilk using quick nave to navigate the web
but having accessibility to being able to jump to the next table,
graphic, or different element or even being able to use the VO search
function not he web with ease. I just wanted to let you guys know
about this meted I have developed, and maybe others have to told. I
am starting ot love the Mac everyday more and more. I also wanted to
let you guys know that I am almost done with my tutorial. It just a
starters guide but it has pictures, and step by step instructions on
how to do things such as making the function keys do software
operations, setting list view as the default view for the finder,
being able to use the tab key to navigate between all forms controls
in both safari and on the whole system. I also have describe every
screen that I use to the user so that they better understand where
they are navigating when using VO, which I think is an integral part
of learning how to navigate a computer using a screen reader.
Sincerely,
Alfredo Holguinbut

Hello!

Sounds like an interesting workaround. Personally, I always just either use the
trackpad commander, or simply use both option and command keys depending on
what combination I need to use. Sometimes, though, my hands just use COntrol
and Option on the left at the same time with no problem, while hitting D and
holding shift with my right.

Geoff,
I don't think there is a list like what you're looking for that has all the
system-wide shortcuts in one place. If there is, I'd like to have it too. While
it is true that you can go through menus in applications and find a lot of
shortcuts that way, including the finder menus, lists can be useful tools for
learning, so if there is such a list somewhere, I hope it will get posted here.

HI Linda,

You need to be under the sidebar tab in the toolbar. You'll probably want to
keep hard disks checked under the General tab as this is what allows Macintosh

Re: Great workaround for Mac Laptops who want a Control ke ont he right side

2010-08-16 Thread Kevin Shaw
When I bought my Macbook Pro, I just bought an Apple keyboard for those times I
need a fully functional keyboard with control and option on the right side.
Makes a little more sense than modifying the caps lock key, which I use quite
often while typing.

direction. I unchecked Idisk so that pesky mobile me message should be gone.

Re: Great workaround for Mac Laptops who want a Control ke ont he right side

2010-08-16 Thread Carolyn
Hi Alfredo:
This sounds like something really cool. although I doubt I'd be able to copy
it. I've often felt like wining about that need for a 6th finger to work with
Vo on the left side and letters on the left side.

I may have to play with this.

Thanks.

Subject: Great workaround for Mac Laptops who want a Control ke ont he right
side

2010-08-16 Thread Justin Kauflin
You might want to contact the folks you got Infovox from. If your code is for
the language pack, it will not unlock the program. You have to get a single
user license in order to use it.
Good luck,

Thats a solution, but for fast interaction when writing serious content, it'd
be better to have immediate response via the pop up, and i believe this should
be implemented.

Thanks for the tip though just used it for those system dialogs i was never
able to access directly

Re: Infovox

2010-08-16 Thread Nicolai Svendsen
Hi,

When you first purcahse a language pack from Infovox iVox, choosing your
license, you will get two e-mails. One contains the activation code for the
Infovox iVox application, the other contains a license code for your particular
language.

Depending on which link you clicked, you might have purchased the wrong license
without an actual activation code for the program itself to allow you to unlock
languages. There are two links. One is indeed to purchase aditional language,
the other is for purchasing the program plus another language. You might want
to ensure you clicked the right link, and if not, quickly contact the dealer to
fix the issue.

Hi Simon,

You can purchase a DRM-free, ePub version of "Mac OS X Snow Leopard:
The Missing Manual" by David Pogue from O'Reilly's eBooks. They sell their
eBooks in multi-format bundles that include PDF files that you can read in
Preview and ePub versions that you can add to your iTunes Library and read
in iBooks on your iPad (or iPhone or iPod Touch under
iOS 4). They also have "Switching to the Mac: The Missing Manual,
Snow Leopard Edition" by the same author. All the O'Reilly books are
available through Bookshare.org, internationally, although the annual
subscription for users outside of the U.S. is probably the cost of buying
the book from O'Reilly in an eBook bundle that includes an ePub version.
Here's their web site:

http://oreilly.com/ebooks/

You'll need to create an account with log in for your purchases. Once you
buy the eBook bundle, you'll have access to multiple formats of the book
from your log in account. They'll also tell you if the book has been
updated. I'm not sure if this is still valid, but they ran a promotion for
eBook purchases in connection with the iPhone (Stanza
app) last year, and the coupon code "STANZACAT" on checkout gave a 40%
discount.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

 Hello Kawal,

The way tracking works is simply that it leaves all the cursors where they
are. If it is turned off, the cursor settings in the VoiceOver Utility
are simply ignored, and a good example of this is Skype.

It will only work on an application basis, however, which means that you
have to turn it on and off as you need to...but it's not that big of a
deal to do that after you get used to it. You can turn it on and off with
 VO-Shift-F3.

RE: log me in

2010-08-16 Thread Simon Fogarty
Nancy,

We use it at my work also, but it's not accessible with vo or any other
screen readers.

Problem is that it opens a web browser window on the client machine which
your screen reader can not read. I'd love this to be different but it's not.

Log me in, is great for sighted people, not I'm sorry to say for the blind.

Subject: log me in

Has anyone ever used a program called "log me in" on their mac? My work is
starting to use it in order to view work stuff at home or out of the office.
If you are familiar with it, could you tell me if it's accessible? Also, is
there another accessible program that will do the same thing?

Thanks

Nancy
