Hello!

Sounds like an interesting workaround. Personally, I always just either use the 
trackpad commander, or simply use both option and command keys depending on 
what combination I need to use. Sometimes, though, my hands just use COntrol 
and Option on the left at the same time with no problem, while hitting D and 
holding shift with my right.
