Bug#699079: libmapnik2-2.0: rfe: make AsBinary() forward compatible with the PostGIS 2.0 API
Package: libmapnik2-2.0 Version: 2.0.0+ds1-3+b4 Severity: wishlist Hi, the libmapnik2-2.0 package currently in Sid includes a bug fixed in later versions of libmapnik but not yet in the Debian archives. Namely, it's not actually compatible with PostGIS 2.0 due to the presence of an old API call. AsBinary() should be renamed ST_AsBinary() for /usr/lib/mapnik/2.0/input/postgis.input. Since Wheezy is shipping PostGIS 1.5 this isn't a RC bug by any means, but over the life of Wheezy it will cause confusion and force installation of 3rd party updates for people using the newer PostGIS, who think the library will be compatible but it actually isn't. So probably a wontfix for the current release, but at least a head's up to anyone else banging their head against the wall & searching the BTS when trying to use it with PostGIS 2.0. The easy work around by the way is to run psql -f legacy.sql or legacy_minimal.sql which comes with PostGIS 2.0. regards, Hamish -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#698990: zsnes: Fix build when _FORTIFY_SOURCE is defined
Dear Michael, thank you very much for the patch. However, I believe that we already have a much more elegant solution prepared in our GIT tree (targeted post-freeze): http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-games/zsnes.git;a=blob;f=debian/patches/fortify-source.patch;hb=HEAD Instead of merely undefining _FORTIFY_SOURCE, it actually fixes to code to allow it to get compiled with that flag. IIRC, that patch is also courtesy of Hans de Goede, btw. > This is the last diff Ubuntu has with Debian, and it would be nice to be > able to drop it. I would appreciate if in future you could contact us before diverging from our packaging. So we could discuss different approaches a priory and would not have to run behind each other's patches anymore. These two answers contradict one another. libsane-perl is one of the scanner interfaces used by gscan2pdf. If you didn't have the problem with the libsane-perl frontend, why did you need to switch to xsane? In any case, if you can't reproduce the problem anymore, then I can't fix it, and it doesn't make any sense to leave the bug open. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#699083: lintian: optimize t/tests suite
Package: lintian Version: 2.5.11 Severity: normal Hi, I believe it might be worth it to look into optimizing the resource requirements for the t/tests suite. It is my understanding that the current testsuite is discouraging to run for some people (myself included when I only have my laptop). I have narrowed this down to t/tests, which was not really surprising. This part of the test suite currently consists of 353[1] tests, which brings on a full Debian build. I used time on a run last night (onlyrun=suite:tests and parallel=8), which gave: real9m22.148s user58m8.566s sys 6m45.349s It seems that most of our tests takes less than 6s real, less than 7s user and less than 2s sys[2]. Because using libsane-perl, I had to put the document twice in the scanner to scan both sides, and I also had to scan pages one by one. Using xsane, I could scan both sides of 40 sheets for example. Doing the same with gscan2pdf forced me to rescan the first side of the first sheet. Hi Andreas, > I can now also offer to NMU ca-certificates-java with my patch (and > intend to do so in a few days without other progress). I think the maintainer's earlier response in this log indicates that he doesn't have time and appreciates if someone else could fix it, so I would say, go ahead with your NMU. Bug#689822: Fwd: Bug#689822: release.debian.org: please accept the package wims_4.03a-8 into testing-proposed-updates
Dear intrigeri, thank you for the two good news which came with your message! - time is getting tight: which should mean that Wheezy will become stable soon :) - you revive my request to accept the package wims into Wheezy, which I was too shy to revive myself. My older address georg...@ofset.org does bounce, so I changed definetely my DEBEMAIL to georg...@debian.org, which will fix this issue. There is a slight modification in my query, since the package wims is now based on the upstream release 4.04: the package in sid has the version/release number 1:4.04~dfsg2-1 However the package has the same dependences than the older wims_4.03a-8, and no package depends on wims or other packages built from the same source, like flydraw. So accepting back wims into Wheezy should not delay the end of the freeze period. There is currently one bug raised for wims, which is related to the transition towards apache 2.4; as this transition is postponed after Wheezy's stable release, it should not be taken in account now. Bug#699085: gajim: fails to react to roster drag&drop under KDE

Bug#699086: mini-buildd: sed separator should not be "/"
Package: mini-buildd Version: 1.0.0~beta.2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I upgraded my install today from 1.0.0~alpha8 to 1.0.0~beta.2. The postinst script failed: sed: -e expression #1, char 68: unknown option to `s' With tracing: + sed -i s/^ *MINI_BUILDD_OPTIONS=.*/MINI_BUILDD_OPTIONS="--verbose --home /srv/mini-buildd"/ /etc/default/mini-buildd The fix: replace '/' with '|' as the separator. Bug#698527: elmer: executable ElmerGUI.real links with both GPL-licensed and GPL-incompatible libraries
Hi, > will we request the package removing from wheezy as well? I have no final decision yet. I need more opinions. (Cc'ing mailing list) Problem affects only binary file ElmerGUI.real which provides modern convenient GUI for pre-processing and post-processing FE models. But package still includes old binaries ElmerFront and ElmerPost with ugly graphical interfaces based on Tk library. I have not tested them myself, but they should provide similar functionality. Solver and libraries do not use graphical toolkits at all. So if we remove problematic binary from the package, program will become very inconvenient but not useless. Any votes to do this? Given that this is a core system database, this could be considered RC since it prevents the database being queried or dumped which can be fundamental to using the system. # nm -D /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6| grep getsg 003d930e09f0 T fgetsgent 003d930e1710 W fgetsgent_r 003d930e0620 T getsgent 003d930e0df0 T getsgent_r 003d930e06e0 T getsgnam 003d930e10d0 T getsgnam_r 003d930e0840 T sgetsgent 003d930e1650 W sgetsgent_r # nm -D /usr/bin/getent| grep getsg U getsgent U getsgnam It's certainly using the correct symbols. I'm going by the (You seem to have been truncated here?) Although you're right that packaging 8 as a separate package would reduce the risk of upgrade problems for people using some configurations including cryptlinks, it would also introduce some more. It would mean that we would still have an abandoned release branch in Debian, with the associated risks that carries; it would increase the maintenance overhead for the Debian maintainer(s) (and bear in mind that I recently adopted this package after a substantial period of it not being maintained so I am particularly nervous about this part); and it would also break the simple upgrade case where people are using it as a simple standalone server with its default configuration (I don't know what the breakdown of users in Debian is like, but there will be at least some of these). My current thinking has been to add a Debconf question when upgrading from 7 to 8 to advise people of the most critical issues with migrating and give them the option of aborting the upgrade (and advice on how resolve the issues). -- Dominic Hargreaves | http://www.larted.org.uk/~dom/ PGP key 5178E2A5 from the.earth.li (keyserver, web, email) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#699090: base-files: nsswitch.conf does not include gshadow entry
Package: base-files Version: 7.1 Severity: serious Tags: patch Hi Santiago, I've attached a patch for adding support for the "gshadow" (group shadow) NSS database to nsswitch.conf. Without this, the libc getsg* family of functions will not work, hence marking serious or else these functions will be broken for new installations; would also be nice if it was possible to add for upgrades as well? Do we have any mechanism for making NSS updates? Bug#697974: missing implementation
I've had a quick look into the axis2c codebase, trying to follow through the calls. I can't see a suitable place where the hostname and the subject of the X509 certificate can be easily tested. It seems to me that someone familiar with the axis2c data structures will need to write new code to make the values accessible and handle the results of the comparison. The CVE lacks any defined test mechanism or verification. The lack of this code would appear to make it possible to implement a classic man-in-the-middle attack on the communication through axis2c. The bug itself cannot be reasonably downgraded at this stage, without more investigation. The reverse dependencies of axis2c are rampart and eucalyptus. eucalyptus is not and has not been in Wheezy (it was removed from unstable and testing, later reintroduced into unstable.) rampart is allied to axis2c. I think the only realistic solution to this RC bug in Wheezy is to remove axis2c and rampart from testing until axis2c can have the necessary support verified. -- Neil Williams = http://www.linux.codehelp.co.uk/ pgpalyCYp7J1U.pgp Description: PGP signature

Bug#699092: kwalletmanager multiple wallets / default wallet
Package: kwalletmanager Severity: normal Version: 4:4.8.4-3 forwarded: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=286768 Scope Affects KDE systems with more than one wallet Description When selecting the default wallet (or a different wallet for local passwords - they both perform in the same way) the drop down box is populated with the same number of wallets you have, but the options consist of all of the wallets listed in alphabetical order however listitem[0] is shown with the same name as listitem[1]. i.e. all of the wallets are shown in alphabetical order EXCEPT the first wallet in the list which is shown the same as the 2nd. Selecting the first wallet in the list has the same effect as selecting the 2nd wallet i.e. listitem[0] and listitem[1] have the same effect. It is not possible to select the first wallet (in alphabetical order) Example: create three wallets in the system in this sequance: C_test B_test A_test It will not be possibel to make the A_test wallet the default wallet. The dropdown box will show (in this order) B_test B_test C_test Let us select the first B_test as the default wallet Mow delete C_test and B_test wallets It is still not possible to make A_test the default wallet Rebooting the system will now cause the system to create a wallet called B_test and you still can not select A_test as your default wallet. to do so you will need to create a wallet of lower alphabetical order i.e 'A' You can now select the default wallet as A_test and then delete the wallet A -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#690799: evnice crashes with a certain PDF file
Hi, From: Date: Sun, 27 Jan 2013 04:07:32 +0100 > > Can you try the libcairo packages from [1]. With those patches applied I > can successfully open and print(-preview) your linked pdf. OK. I tried your 1.12.2-2+deb7u2 binary packages. Still, the same crash occured with the linked pdf. Is this what you expected for me to do? Did you open the thumbnail view, by selecting the menu [View] - [Side pane]? Bug#699090: base-files: nsswitch.conf does not include gshadow entry

Updated patch attached. This will upgrade nsswitch.conf in-place on upgrade to add support for gshadow for existing installations, while new installs will get the new nsswitch.conf by default. Note that it's only run for upgrades from base-files << 7.2, so will only be run once. The sed script will insert the new entry after the shadow entry if present, to make it identical to the default nsswitch.conf, otherwise it will be inserted after the group entry which it matches. On #debian-devel, we discussed the security implications of enabling this by default, but the consensus was that since this is only readable by root, it's not an issue (restricting the upgrade to only group:(compat|files) was considered, but thought to not be worthwhile over enabling it for all cases). Bug#699090: base-files: nsswitch.conf does not include gshadow entry
El 27/01/13 13:18, Roger Leigh escribió: Package: base-files Version: 7.1 Severity: serious Tags: patch Hi Santiago, I've attached a patch for adding support for the "gshadow" (group shadow) NSS database to nsswitch.conf. Without this, the libc getsg* family of functions will not work, hence marking serious or else these functions will be broken for new installations; Hmm, I'm very confused by the severity you have given to this report this late in the wheezy freeze, and also by the fact that you provide a patch but not a complete explanation why it is so much important (or at least an explanation which I can understand). Let me ask you a few questions to better understand the issue: * Is this a new problem, or it is an old problem that nobody noticed until now? * How many users are affected by this? Does this affect the average user? * How is it possible that we didn't notice until now? * What package, exactly, does break by *not* having the proposed line? (I use NIS and NFS in a computer lab, and it works, so it is hard for me to believe that this is RC for wheezy). * What is glibc default value for such line if missing from nsswitch.conf? Should this not be *also* a bug in glibc for not having sane defaults? [ Update: A simple search tells me you have also filed #699089 against libc-bin for this reason ]. I hope you find all these questions reasonable enough. would also be nice if it was possible to add for upgrades as well? Do we have any mechanism for making NSS updates? No, we don't have a mechanism for upgrades, but if we had to do that, the right package for doing it would be libc-bin: http://bugs.debian.org/649265 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
