I upgraded my install today from 1.0.0~alpha8 to 1.0.0~beta.2. The postinst script failed: sed: -e expression #1, char 68: unknown option to `s' With tracing: + sed -i s/^ *MINI_BUILDD_OPTIONS=.*/MINI_BUILDD_OPTIONS="--verbose --home /srv/mini-buildd"/ /etc/default/mini-buildd The fix: replace '/' with '|' as the separator. Another note: that part of the script runs unconditionally, regardless of the parameter passed to the configure script. IMHO it should only be run if $1 is "configure".
