Thanks for the good ideas! The distance is about 450feet with 18/6, good quality, brand new in pvc conduit but not twisted (we did not install, gate company did it). We did have a surge supp. on it but removed it today to no avail.
Do not have the DTMF tester but I can try a different port in case it just doesnt like #5 that it is currently in.
