Please Help. My customer has a Linear RE1 gate controller which I have connected directly into a port on the 624 and it works just fine as far as visitors calling in and ringing and then opening the gate remotely. Typical gate controller that works on DTMF tones, nothing special.
What is driving us nuts is when the client wants to "call" out to the gate, open it and then lock it open. About 70% of the time the gate unit acts as if it is not hearing the tones properly from the 624. The gate requires "##81#" to open and "##83#" to close. Many times the RE1 digital attendent will say "invalid code" after the first "#" or the gate unit will just "lock up" during the process as if alot of buttons were pressed on the phone. I know this really sounds like a gate operator problem but it is not, the Linear unit has been completely replaced and we think we may be starting to see a pattern where it is occuring on 2 particular phones only but this is still up in the air. Maybe a problem with using the # sign? Noise? Some stange incompatibility? DTMF tones off pitch? To long? To short? The real difficult part is that it works fine sometimes or possibly from certain phones. Whew! never seen this in 20+ years.
