THAT SAID, I believe that there are really TWO separate issues in this discussion.
FIRST,
At least some dealers want Panasonic to honor the spirit of their "authorized dealer" agreement, e.g. protected distribution channels in exchange for a strong support structure that builds the reputation of the products.
On the other hand, dealers who sell on the Internet either have a different agreement OR are glad to see that Panasonic has decided not to enforce restrictions on distribution.
SECOND,
At least some end users WANT choices, with options ranging from "traditional full-service sales/installation/support" to "buyer beware/mail order/do-it-yourself". By the very nature of this group, the latter are over represented.
