Hi Carl-

Yes, you can use that combination of cards and not worry about power issues. The system knows what you have connected to it, and also knows what the total power consumption is.

I have not yet tried the potentially-destructive (expensive) test of loading down a system above the rating of its power supply to see what "happens." Probably there is some level at which intermittent troubles start showing up, which would be a major pain to troubleshoot on a client's site since so many variables are varying at any given moment. Also probably Panasonic has a decent safety margin in there, but I would still play it safe when getting close to the limits.

Re. your apparent miracle-voicemail unit. I'm tending toward skeptical. First, 10k mailboxes is a logical outcome of an unlimited four-digit numbering plan, and in any case you won't use that many:-). Second, 1200 hours of storage suggests to me that there has got to be a compromise in the sound quality. It may be that there are settings that let you alter the compression and sound quality, and trade off for storage time. And in any case, ports are usually the limiting factor, i.e. if you're using this for the sake of large capacity, you probably want more ports to be sure the auto attendant doesn't get busied out during peak calling hours.

Personally I don't go for third-party voicemail units because they're never quite as smoothly integrated, predictable, and so on, as the ones made by the PBX manufacturer itself. All the "weird stuff" I designed for KXTVS over the past five years is now part of the system, with improvements beyond what I originally came up with, so I don't even have any particular needs that would only be met by a third-party unit.
