To broaden your thinking a bit more there have been builders that used tubes in the outer wing for tanks.  You could go with different combinations like tubes behind the spar, one behind the spar and one in the lead edge, or whatever combination works. With fuel in the outer wings I'm not sure of the benefit of additional tanks in the stub wing other than volume.  I've got 25 gallon in the outer wings only.  Quite enough, especially running a VW.
