Something I noticed: Back when I was in high school, I went to a tech show
for high school students with the space simulation (www.ottawa.spacesim.org
-- it's a club I was in at the time, and still am occasionally involved
with as an alumni). I was feeling a tad self-conscious about being the
only female on the team (It didn't bother me much when we were doing tech
stuff, but damned if I didn't feel out of place when we were in public
showing off) so I started to pay attention to the way people reacted to us.

The males who visited the booth gravitated to the person who was free or
talking about something that interested them, regardless of gender. There
were, I think, 5 of us for much of the day, so I talked with around 1/5 of
the guys who stopped at our booth. However, I talked with probably 80-90%
of the women.

Now why is that? Theories?
