Gentlefolk,

Chased this one a little further.

Increased the home_offset, decreased all speeds.

By means of watching the Axis gui display, holding the axis lightly and
listening it would appear that the following is happening:

The axis homes to the switch.
The axis reverses direction for a small distance (0.1-2 mm at most).

At this point the motor makes a strange noise for a brief instant. This
seems to relate to the axis gui display showing the axis moving to the
offset location (correct direction).
It then makes another strange noise for a longer time. This seems to
relate to the axis gui display showing the axis moving from the offset
location back to the limit switch.

During the above two occurrences the I can feel the axis barely move,
sort of vibrates.

From experience this indicates the stepper is being told to move faster
than it can actually move. A look at the logic signal 'step' from the
computer to the driver indicates (very roughly) that 'step' signals
during the above two occurrences are at twice the rate of the home
movement to the switch.

No changes to any of the home_?_vel parameters make any difference.

Ian
