I think that I would keep the Sabre, but I know the role appearance plays. Appearance was high on the list of why I purchased my 35 MKII.I love the appearance and lines which are what I think is called "classic" Cuthbertson by some sailors. Classic Plastic, I think they called it in one article I have read

These are from PHRF NE. You should be able to compare the 34+ and Sabre 386 from your experience (apparently fairly similar). My experience sailing the 35-3 (another Rob Ball design) is that windward performance is great; reaching and downwind are weaker points (but not bad, mind you). Where in LIS are you based? I'm thinking about one for a full restoration and ultimately to be used for coastal cruising (long island sound), casual phrf racing and limited offshore runs (Bermuda, BVI, etc). A little background. I currently sail a Sabre 386 but am uninspired by the performance. Build quality is great. I've owned 2 Rob Ball C &C's in the past, each for about 7 years - a 34+ and a 51xl. _____ No virus found in this message.
