Sobig.E. is a virus designed to create a backdoor trojan on
a system to send out SPAM. Get it? The particular virus that
this list is dissemminating 3 or 4 times a day to possibly
thousands (?) of subscribers is a SPAMMER TOOL created for
the specific purpose of allowing the spammer to use infected
PC's to send out untraceable spam.

Every time you see one of those infected emails, that is an
attempt by a SPAMMER to make YOUR computer into a spam
machine. The difference between Sobig.E. and earlier
versions of Sobig is that it is much more efficient as a
spam tool because it is multi-threaded.

I don't think it makes sense for the Spamassassin list to
foster the creation of millions of spam-sending trojans on
people's personal PCs.

BAS> Worms will become increasingly more vicious or more promiscuous

But THIS one is. It is a spammers tool that does very little
damage to the users computer other than harvesting all
emails contained in all files on the users computer, and
creating a SMTP engine usable by the spammer.

Well, obviously you are in favor of helping out spammers
then. I may be ranting, but I'm not so stupid that I think
that worms are someone else's problem. A good deal of the
spam you see is coming from trojans that worms like this
have created, and the problem is only going to get worse as
more people have always-on broadband connections.
