Sure, if the people who administer the list also administer the mail system upon which the list depends. For [SA-Talk], this is not the case. > It makes no sense that people who develop software like > Spamassassin can't figure out how to stop a simple virus > that ALWAYS has the same line of text plus an attachment > with the same name from being repeatedly sent via the list. > It's bad enough that the text comes through, as well as the > inevitable autoresponses from all the ISPs -- but it is > totally irresponsible that you guys are allowing the > infected file through as well. The bottom of every missive sent by this list contains > Spamassassin-talk mailing list > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/spamassassin-talk which implies that the underlying mail infrastructure is hosted, maintained, etc. by the nice people at Sourceforge. Perhaps your ire would be more usefully directed at them, since they're the ones that control whether mail to the list is filtered for viruses, spam, etc. AFAIK, the list operator has no control over installing Mailman, filters, or other abstruse bits of MTA configuration. The list is unmoderated for a reason; IIRC, moderation is about the limit of control "we" (tinw) can exert over mail processed by Sourceforge. > Is there an administrator or moderator for this list? > Mailman has really easy filtering options, I'll bet my kids > could figure it out..... Sure. Now all your kids have to do is get hired on as sysadmins for Sourceforge ;) -- Bob ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email sponsored by: Free pre-built ASP.NET sites including Data Reports, E-commerce, Portals, and Forums are available now.
