Okay, I did a clean install of Hardy (8.04) for an unrelated reason.

Further information that might be important. The free space seen in the
screenshots is inside a logical partition, but the two other partitions
are not inside that logical partition. I have installed into that free
space successfully, even though the preview shows me writing over the
entire disk.

I can confirm this bug with the most recent Alpha 5 updates (9/11/08).
Anytime the screensaver occurs or the screen is locked, the computer
become unresponsive. Keyboard and mouse is unresponsive. The screen goes

1. open any youtube video.
2. watch it for a while (60 seconds+) or watch until it finishes.
3. close the window.
4. Firefox crashes (closes all windows). This happens 50-100% of the time.

I can confirm this bug has been fixed for a while. I just installed the
Jaunty beta and confirmed that it is fixed on there. So, if anyone else
is having this problem, please speak up because I'm now changing this to
fix released.

I can confirm this bug. It's not really that big of a deal, but OCD
people like me find it annoying. Why is it there in the first place?
This always happens on a clean install. Did it get installed, then
uninstalled during Ubuntu's installation? Perplexing...
