We are probably clipping the drawn area at line height instead of font’s
OS/2 table Win metrics, which is wrong IMO.

I had a cursory look at Math while ago, and my impression is that it is
a hopeless case, it has to be rewritten from scratch (at least the math
renderer) if any sane math rendering is to be achieved.

I don't know Vala, but if the gettext use is the same as in C (as I read
somewhere), then the attached patch should address this issue.
Unfortunately, I don't have enough up to date build environment to test
it, but xgettext seems to extract plural forms properly.

For Arabic, the first 3 forms can be read like "no books", "one book",
"three books" where using the word form of the numbers is mandatory
because it has morphological and grammatical considerations (i.e. the
