Hi Ed:
It should do all that you've said as long as you have your mail delivery
thing set up correctly. I personally use procmail for local mail
delivery, and all it does is pipe all incoming messages to spamc. After
spamc is done with the emails, it spits it back out. If they're marked

There's no harm in reporting a mail more than once. Just make sure it's

I am trying to run SpamAssassin v2.20 using spamd via spamc
in /etc/procmailrc. I am running spamd as root so that spamd has access
to the .spamassassin directory in my users' home directories.
When the message is processed by spamd the following message appears in my
mail log:

I don't remember if I replied or not -- I don't think I did though.
This looks very odd to me. It seems like it should not be having any
trouble reading the file. Try (temporarily) relaxing the ACL on the
directory/file to allow r for all on files, and rx for all on
directories (/etc, /etc/mail

Paul Myers has some reasonable complaints, he argues against ISP's
installing mail filtering without notifying their users or providing an
opt-in / opt-out. That's a very valid problem and probably opens that
ISP to liability.
He also seems to fail to grasp that many spamassassin users are

spamc is started without any command line options and spamd is started
with the '-d -c -a -F0' options.
I am not using SQL.
The only configuration file changes that I made are to the
file /etc/mail/spamassassin/migrated.cf.
Below are the contents of my migrated.cf:

Only root can bind to ports <1024. It looks like spamd uses 783, thus
it must be root while it binds the socket. It can drop privileges

Paul,
I would like to invite you to be one of the few people on earth to have
a PCsites.com email address at no cost to you. The reason I am making
this offer is this.
I am running Spamassassin 'out of the box' with no customization on my
email server. The only other software that touches and c
