I ride in the grass along the side the road. It's quite bumpy and
such, but a bit of off road riding on the commute is not

With the Silver Hupe, for me the seat stay diameter made a difference.
On the Quickbeam, with single tapered seat-stays it gouged the paint a

Hard to tell, but it looks like a campagnolo mirage rear derailer.
Campagnolo does sell the parts individually, but as it is a discontinued
product line,
they are fairly cheap to replace.
Should be about 30 bucks new on ebay.

I carry pepper spray in a quick release clip on my handlebars...I put
it there for dogs, never thought about it as self defence against
confrontational motorists.

Sorry to hear about this Joe. That ride through Leucadia is always
sketchy in my opinion without a legit bike lane. Whenever I'm riding
south through Leucadia I head up to Neptune and go back to PCH in
Encinitas. It's slower, but I've personally had some close calls/angry
drivers along the Leucadia
I would also happily "recycle" a hupe. You shouldn't have to live with
that in your house. Let the nightmare end.

elegant than the 3T on the Focus. Riv's prototype recalls the Colnago
precisa style fork, which I think is really nice looking, albeit in a

I took the Bombdil out for a quick loop through Wildcat Canyon. I
live right over the top of the hill from Rifle Range Road, so it's
extraordinarily easy access. I still had the red Hetres on and
Wildcat was still pretty muddy. East Bay Mud tends to stick to
everything so it was a touch sloppy.

stuff is good. It's tough to read a map while you ride. Just figure
you're going to stop to consult as needed. Once you hit the coast,

The Hostel in Santa Cruz is pretty sweet. It's like an old victorian

David's ex-Hupe spent a happy winter on my Atlantis, supporting my
Hobo Bag rigged as a saddlebag. Just tossed it on (well, it's a bit
