Fear not. The second wheel I ever built (i.e. not built by an expert) was a 28 hole open pro to some "specialized" branded $7 (i kid you not) nashbar special front hub, and it's seen now 4 years of hard use on the 3 front of three different fixed gears under a ~200 lb (+ or -) rider (so, not being ridden "lightly") on urban, road, and mixed- terrain rides with nary a truing needed, much less signs of impending explosion.
