or what Intel likes to call "high definition audio" which is another
variant of a soundmax chip.

Since there is no hardware involved, you get no anti-aliasing. So,
unless you only want everything to come out at 11,025 khz, you'll get
tons of aliasing over the virtual cable.

I personally like the AKG k44 and k55's, they can be found at
www.musiciansfriend.com for $19 and $29, respectively.
They're very durable as well.
Also, although they are a good deal more expensive and have a
quarter-inch plug rather than a 1/8th/3.5mm, the Audio Technica ATH-m40's are
great
psulation's sake, in
the case of mp3 pro.
I don't know much about how AAC+ actually works, but I expect it's
something similar.

Loads of speaker sets have secondary inputs on them. I have a set of
Klipsch promedia 2.1's, which are rather nice. They have a control pod
with two 1/8th inch inputs. I've also seen several from Logitech, Altec
and others which have secondary inputs.
I run all my stuff through a cheap little
ach set. Of course, if it's passive, you have
resistence load to worry about, since the signal is asentially being
split, like an inhansed y-adapter.

If the tone in your audio is exactly 6 KHZ, and you know what level it
falls under and if it stays constant, you can generate a 6 KHZ tone of
the same length, invert the phase, and apply it on top of the existing

which will set everything to defaults anyway.
Most motherboards have a jumper next to the bios battery. Failing that,
just take the battery out and leave it out for a few minutes.

Most boards I've seen just don't cut it for on-board effects.
Yes, I have software effects all day, but sometimes it's really nice to
have hardware. There's just something about it, ya know?
