I found that after doing a clean install and literally starting from
scratch, that is reinstalling all my apps manually and not using
migration that my iMac boot up speed returned to normal.

Personally I have junked Preview in favour of reading PDF with Nisus Writer
Pro. This appears to read fine to me so far and of course has the advantage of
making the PDF editable.
I realise this is not a free option but worth considering if you happen to have
Nisus already.

I have done this in the past by simply copying and pasting into a playlist. I
created a BBC Radio Playlist for example.
I have not tried this on the new version of iTunes though.
You could just try pressing command C on a station and then command V on a
playlist and see how you go

It is a bit peculiar but I have been able to retain my column browser in
iTunes under Yosemite just fine. I do not know if this is a feature of
my upgrading rather than a clean install.

It is not a global command. Option enter does different things in different
applications. In safari for example it forces the download of a media file
rather than the playing of it.

I think I read earlier that you had used a Russian keyboard layout at one
stage? I do not know why this would cause a problem but it is worth checking.

I cannot swear to this but I think that the threaded conversation problem in
Mail may have been improved.
So far I am only getting 3 or 4 names read out rather than the huge list that
was being read out before.
