It is a bit peculiar but I have been able to retain my column browser in iTunes under Yosemite just fine. I do not know if this is a feature of my upgrading rather than a clean install.

I have all the problems you have encountered on the windows version of iTunes though.

HI all,

I know there has been a lot of complaining about the new iTunes. I’m trying to
be open-minded, but it is driving me nuts. With my music selected, I am unable
to get any view save for an unhelpful album grid. I can’t see an artist
listing, nor a list view of albums, nor any other sort of list view. Column
browser is not present either.
“albums” says it is a poop up button, but when I try to activate it, like
maybe I’ll get another choice, all I get is the selection of how to sort, not
any way to actually change from this albums grid view.
I recall somebody suggested trying the “playlists” button to solve some of
these problems people were having. I tried that and got a list of my playlists
all right. But I’m still not seeing a way to have my music show in an easily
navigable list view, preferably sorted by artists. I do see the “sort by” which
offers a couple of pop ups so you can choose to sort first by artist, then by
title. But that doesn’t change the fact that albumes is the only view and the
only display is that most unhelpful grid. This pretty well renders itunes
playback on my Mac useless as compared with the i-devices. What am I missing
here?
