see if the problem persists on another file? If it doesn't, then try under

In the past when running Lion you use to be able to start your mac, here the
chime and press command R and then some time had elapse after letting go after
30 seconds, you could press command f5 and voice over would start.
I have tried this in Mountain Lion and when I press command f5 vo
Command+R still works in ML. Perhaps wait a little longer? I'm able to get
into the recovery with no problems.

on, and pressed Command R and let go after 30 seconds. Waited almost 5
minutes, pressed FM command 5, no voice over.

explains why I missed this keystroke when trying to move things around. I
