This might seem like a dumb question, but if you're not in objection to
trying it, can you create another user account, then log into that user, and
see if the problem persists on another file? If it doesn't, then try under
that new user you created to access the file... you might have to first copy
it over to a folder that user can access like its home dir, etc, but do that
if needed, then see if it'll save. Basically, I'm trying to pinpoint down
is this a problem with your user account, with the file, or what... I'm
basically trying to see where the problem lives. Once I know this, it'll be
easier to fix. The other thing too, Harry, might be are you using a user
account with administrator priveledges? Again, I know, I know, you're
probably saying, duh. Yes I am, hello, I'm not that far gone, Chris. I
don't question that. You'd be surprised though out how the most obvious
answer sometimes is the one having people going... You, know? Good point!

Also, how exactly did you do your disk permission repair as I'm curious if
you didn't do it correctly. Remember, when you're booted, certain files
will be in use by the O S. So what you have to do, is boot to another
startup disk. Now, that might mean another bootable OSX volume on another
partition, or it may mean a volume on a completely different drive
altogether, or heck, maybe even booting to an O S X install DVD media by
putting the disk in the drive, then booting while holding the C, as in
Charley, key down. Also, when you boot your system, try pressing... what
would that be... command+R I think it is? Or is it option R. You may have
to play with that a bit. I'm sorry, I'm not totally rememberring at the
moment. Anyway, that will boot you into the recovery partition. It's ok,
don't worry, we're not gonna wipe your disk, I promise! Once in here though
select your language if you have to, then go into the scroll area on the
first recovery screen, and tell it to run disk utility. Then! try
repairing. When done, hit command+Q to exit Disk Utility, and again to get
out of recovery. Go ahead then and try to let it reboot, and log back into
your user account you normally use. Then try again to save the file.
Another thing, too, in disk utility to try is don't just try to repair
permissions. Also try to repair the disk itself.
Another question: is your disk incripted with the security valt that you
can get at through /applications/utilities? If it is, that also could be
part of your issue. If you don't know, then you've not done so. Believe
me, you'd know if you had.

Apparently it is a permissions issue. Thank you, Chris, for puttin me on to
the repair disk permissiosn option, sicne that repaired several hundred
items, apparently, including several things with my library, but it did not
fix my issue. I go into my folder and try to make it read nad write from
read only, but it doesn't take. It has my current acount as read and write,
but that doesn't work. "Everyone" is set to read only, as is "Staff,"
whatever that means. Maybe I hsoul change it to "Write only, dropbox?" I'm
not sure what that means either, but maybe it would work? I've not had
problems with this folder before, but I did mess with it a while back, to
see if there were a way to password protect an individual folder, and I
think I changed a setting in the permissions tab. The trouble is that I now
don't know how to fix it.

could be trying to save into a folder where you haven't got the right
permissions.
As a workaround, have you tried selecting all and copying to another

remembered which command worked, so maybe that effected something?
