Hi friends, I've got rar expander and the little compressing utility
that comes with finder. These take care of unpacking archives nicely,
but I want to split and make a multi-part archive and I don't have
anything here that does such a thing.

Why not just run iTunes and let it play something? THis should
prevent it from sleeping, your screen saver will still kick in, but it
shouldn't go to sleep.

I wonder how well this kind of thing works. Doing hourly incremental
backups to a remote server and sucking up 100GB or so of their disk
space seems prone to failure. It could take weeks to get the first
backup through and it might just keep up with the incremental after

version of Carbonite. There's an option to display status in the menu
bar, but I'm not seeing it in my status menus, even though I have it

If you don't have a card reader, you'll have to beg, borrow, or steal
one. Or else just buy one, they can be had for well under $20, perhaps
even under $10. Really, they're a dead useful thing to have. Just copy
the unzipped files to the root of the card and you'll be OK.

On a more positive note, the page load sounds seem to be working much
better now, and pages seem to be loading faster. Also, it has seemed
to me that VO is more responsive
In theory this might be true, but when running a windows defragmentor,
it indicated that the drive was very fragmented, and it did seem to
run a bit faster after I defragmented it, didn't take long to defrag
though, only a couple minutes.
