Subject: Re: apple warranty
That has been my personal experience. Although I have had both good
and bad experiences of most companies, the good experience of apple
has far outstripped anything I've gotten from any other company. I
know I've told my deep frier oil story numerous times on the list. It

Yes but that support you only get if you pay for the 3 year plan
otherwise it is only 90 days and as I said I am not at all sure that
that apple support would mean anything to a voicover user. But I will
try to get a hold of some people, hopefully things will get
interesting over here.

I think what you're paying for more in the cost of a mac is better
support. I'd heard some stats suggesting that the tech support that
companies like Del, HP, and other PC manufacturers provided was lower
in quality to that of Apple.

Hi Anouk,

I'm mostly a research bum. I work on projects at universities that

Hello, well because laptops are so differently priced 3 years warranty
is not enforced here I think, another problem is that of course macs
are even more costly then they already are in the states because I
think they must literally translate that dollar price into euros. But,
imho especia
Hi,
When looking at compute power, one needs to consider what the users
need at home, school and work. The fact of the matter is that a brand
new laptop from Apple, Dell, HP, etc. probably have an incredibly
overpowered CPU for the requirements of the typical user.
The Core 2 in my new Ma
Hi anouk,
We have some of these similar problems here with our equipment
funding. Unfortunately the nature of the computer market is this.
The average consumer wants to spend as little as possible on a
computer, even if that means they will be buying a new computer once a
year. Consume
Hello, Yes on the other hand you get a lot of support but I have no
idea what the quality of that applecare support is for a voicover
users, in the dutch apple stores there is no know how about voiceover
and I bet Dutch support people dont know about it either.
I will have to contact some of
Hi Chris,
You just mentioned about apple's exposure regarding educational bulk
sales.
I have just met with someone from the powers that be over here, who
baught one license of Jaws for a school, and i spoke to him about how
voice over comes packaged with a mac. Do you know if there is some
Hi,
Apple does sell extended warranty packages for its laptops and other
products. These are pretty expensive but are really excellent service.
I would bet that Apple would work out a bulk sale deal with your
blindness organization if they would enter negotiations.
