I was referring to a physical remote that came bundled with the HD USB
tuner and eyeTV. Uses infrared to a receiver built into the USB thingy
which sometimes makes it awkward to use.

That remote window kept getting my way so I closed it. I think that one can
use the Apple remote control but I haven't tried it yet. I use the tab key to
move through the unknowns and interact with each until I find the one I want.

You can easily change channels, volume, and much more with hot keys or through
the menu, but the built-in guide that lets you set up recordings is not
accessible.

there are sone decent usb mac TV tuners out there which support both DVB and
sattelite services. can't remember the models as I don't use it anymore as I
don't do much road work etc as I used to. voiceover is fairly flexible with
