I'm contacting them about it now, actually. Is the iPhone app just as
inaccessible? Or is that more accessible than the mac software.

I use eye tv everyday and I do think that if more of us talked with them
about accessibility and show that there is demand for it Elgato might be
interested and even motivated enough to do something about vo accessibility

Awesome. I wonder if Elgato would be open to accessibility suggestions? Or
would you say minus the guide, the app is accessible enough to use it on a
regular basis.

I really want to get rid of this Winblows box and completely switch to the
mac, but watching TV was my last hurdle to jump over.

Thanks for all the input, guys. So the only thing that's' not accessible is
the guide, yet you can set up smart guides with some effort? Is there a
hotkey to record whatever you're watching at any given moment?

Eye TV comes with a remote control which lets you do some functions that
way. No feedback from VO to let you know what channel you're on but I guess
that's no different than most cable boxes.

You can set smart guides so eye tv is not a total loss as one may believe at
first. It takes just a bit of effort. I have 22 smart guides set up. You
have to interact with the unknowns but it is doable. Is ity perfect? No,
but it can work.

You can easily change channels, volume, and much more with hot keys or

Hi,

I use eyetv, which from what I can gather is the only software available. I
think there used to be another one, but I can't remember it's name, and
can't find it anyway. EyeTV is from Elgato systems, and is almost
completely inaccessible. You can watch live TV, and you can with some
mucking around set up the preferences etc, but you can't use the guide, and
therefore you can't record shows easily. You can however use the EyeTV app
for IOS, which connects to your mac, and record shows that way, but not a
full series only individual episodes--very annoying!

We've used it here for a year or so, and it seems to be OK, if you can live
with the limitations. The good thing is that if you can record something,
the files are playable from finder. And furthermore if you "show package
contents" on one of the files, you can have it export to .m4v and play it
with iTunes, or vlc.

Hello,

Has anyone had any luck with connecting their mac to a satellite or cable
box to watch live TV from their provider? I've done this with Windows Media
Center with great success, but wondered if there's any way to do it with
Macs. I know there are TV tuner cards that are compatible, but I'm not sure
of the accessibility of said software that's included with the cards, and
don't want to spend the money only to find out the software's not accessible
with VoiceOver.

Any help would be appreciated.
