A LaTeX Query

I am working on totally understanding a LaTeX template so that I can modify it intelligently for my own purposes. I know this is a LyX-oriented mail list, but I want to ask if the Usenet newsgroup, comp.text.tex, would be a good place to ask for help. I'm working my way through it, line-by-line

The original question was how to use avant font in the equations. The problem is solved: I a Linux Debian Sarge I do: 1) Download "sansmath.sty" from: http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/misc/ 2) With then command "kpsepath tex" you get the paths, where TeX search for files.
